TECSA S.r.l. enriches its perpetual license with the code of calculation of the Phast Professional consequences of DNV-GL (UK) of the advanced ‘3D Explosion’ module. The module constitutes a significant enrichment of the analytical potential by placing itself between the basic methods already present in Phast and the significantly more complex methods that TECSA S.r.l. operates with CFD and FEM codes. Being a Phast add-on it can be used to improve the degree of analysis detail already performed (with the Baker-Strehlow-Tang and Multi Energy explosion models). It allows to consider the interaction between the cloud of flammable vapors and congested areas of process plants in all directions (3D), taking into account the weather conditions in order to quantitatively identify the level in the whole three-dimensional simulation domain considered as overpressure , impulse and duration of the impulse. The module is particularly suited to the risk analysis preparatory to the conduct of ‘facility layout’ studies as it integrates a feature called “multiscenario hazard accounting” that allows the recomposition, also graphic, of the effects of multiple scenarios with respect to a unique threshold value . TECSA S.r.l. will insert the use of the new module not only in quantitative risk analysis activities but also in the activities of verification and optimization of the layout of flammable gas detection systems that, starting from February 2015, are already completely executed in 3D through specific tools calculation and graphical representation (F & G mapping) both onshore and offshore, also with the help of CFD codes. The new specific module for the in-depth study of explosions will also be included in the workflows of forensic engineering activities following an accident.
