A major Italian company operating in the Oil & Gas sector requested the development of an E.E.R.A. (Escape, Evacuation & Rescue Assessment) analysis for a new bio-fuel production plant. The purpose of the analysis was to provide a suitable methodology to assess the risk associated with the process of evacuation, escape and rescue of personnel from an onshore installation.
The tool used to model the consequences and carry out the risk recomposition is DNV Phast Safeti™ within which, for each accident scenario analysed, the frequencies of occurrence (obtained by means of an event tree analysis technique) were assigned; the iso-risk curves generated by the tool during the risk recomposition process made it possible to establish which Escape Routes and Collection Points were compromised.
